The Transport Workers Union (TWU) represents just over 100,000 workers across transportation industries in Australia, including more than 12,000 workers at the Toll Group. The TWU has advanced safe rate legislation to reduce on-the-job injuries and fatalities that both raise standards of living for Australian workers and keep its businesses competitive.
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) is the largest transportation union in America, representing 1.4 million men and women who serve the logistics and other key U.S. industries. The Teamsters have led the way on 21st century policies to introduce clean technology vehicles into service to protect drivers and communities in port and metropolitan transportation corridors, protecting public health while fueling quality job growth and shovel-ready green infrastructure projects in multiple sectors.
The Toll Group is the largest transport/logistics employer in Australia and has recently announced aggressive expansion plans for operations in the United States. The Grim Truth at Toll Group is a joint effort of TWU and IBT working cooperatively to end appalling third-world working conditions emanating from recent U.S. acquisitions.
Under the slogan “Our Fight is Your Fight,” members and leaders of the two unions have vowed to replicate constructive labor-management relations in the U.S. that have made the company so profitable in Australia, and to ensure high-road employment practices for Toll workers across the globe.
